Cougar Smart New Mexico, initiated by Animal Protection of New Mexico (APNM), has developed trailhead posters, informative flyers, and waterproof safety tips tags for kids’ backpacks to help keep people safe when recreating and living in cougar country. This is a collaboration between APNM, New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, the US Forest Service, New Mexico State Parks, and Santa Fe County Open Space and Trails.
